Clinging
A young man, seeking enlightenment, found the hut of an old Master deep in the forest. He found the Master working outside in a small garden, and questioned him.
"Master," he said, "how may I reach Nirvana?"
The Master spoke quietly. "When you stop clinging, you will be there."
"But Master," said the young man, "I have given away all of my possessions, and I have no family. To what am I clinging?"
Without a word, the Master drew his sword and decapitated the young man.
"Thank you, Master!" cried the head as it rolled away. "Now I am free as a bird!"
