I wrote this story sometime in the early 90's, when I was losing my religion. If you're in the process of losing yours, perhaps this will make you feel better. (Just kidding. It won't.) In addition to the story, I've included a fascinating critique of it which my friend Geoff Wyss wrote many years ago.
