Jonah had a private joke that he would think to himself whenever he heard about things that happened millions of years ago.

"Fooled 'em again, God," he would think.

What he meant by that was this: years ago he borrowed a book from his youth pastor called The New Geology. This book proved conclusively to any sane person that the earth was, in fact, created by God only six thousand years ago. What Jonah had wanted to know was, where did all the fossils come from? Simple, claimed the book. God created the fossils when he laid down the earth's crust six thousand years ago. Jonah took the book back to his youth pastor and told him it was the most absurd thing he'd ever read.

"I might as well believe," he said, "that I was created just this morning, with all my memories intact."

Here's the funny part: this conversation never really happened. Jonah just remembers it happening.

In actual fact, I created him just this morning, with all his memories intact.
